Cloud Redefined

At yesterdays IP EXPO 2010 I actually heard the "same" definition of the Cloud used in two different presentations !

  • Cloud  = IAAS + PAAS + SAAS

however with a subtle change I think it could be defined even more easily as

  • Cloud = SAAS3 = SAAS + SAAS + SAAS

where

  • SAAS = Systems as a Service instead of Software as a Service
  • SAAS = Stacks as a Service instead of Platforms as a Service
  • SAAS = Servers as a Service instead of Infrastructure as a Service
